SMALL IN SIZE, BIG ON NUTRITION
In the 17th century, beans were thought to be a magic cure for everything from the common cold to baldness. Today it's known that beans possess some pretty magical powers in a different way when used as part of a healthy diet. Low in fat and sodium, high in protein, with enough fiber, folacin (folic acid,) vitamins and minerals to go around. Beans are an excellent low-fat alternative to animal protein. Beans are included in both the vegetable and protein groups in the USDA's Food Guide Pyramid. Beans are nutritionally rich and they taste great. What's not to love?
